Local Rechargeable Battery Recycling Drop-off Sites
Wal-Mart - Houghton, 482-0639
Swift's True Value Hardware - Houghton, 482-0530

RBRC(Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation) has information concerning recycling of rechargeable batteries, including a searchable nationwide database of businesses that will recycle batteries free of charge. Rechargeable batteries are commonly found in such items as flashlights, cordless power tools, cellular and cordless phones, laptop computers, and camcorders. They include the following types:

  • Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd)
  • Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH)
  • Lithium Ion (Li-ion)
  • Small Sealed Lead (Pb), weighing up to 2 lbs per battery
Caution! When we checked with local businesses listed by RBRC, not all actually participate in the program, although their parent companies and some franchisees do.

If you are unable to find a local recycler, contact RBRC at 1-800-8 BATTERY or http://www.rbrc.com/.
