GPS Base Station Files
These files are being offered over the Internet by MTU as a service to GPS users in the Upper Great Lakes region. PHDM does not have a direct link to the internet so files will not be available for download immediately as with some base stations. We will try to upload the previous day's files daily Monday-Friday. Files will be kept online as disk space permits (for a minimum of 90 days) and then archived.
*Notes*
Update 7/26/2000
No files were colected from 6/3/2000 -> 6/7/2000, 6/9 -> 6/14, 6/29 -> 7/1, and 7/9 -> 7/19. The problem has now been resolved.
If you would like to be informed of future outages, send an email message to the base station sysop, Lori Schultz, at LSchultz@phdm.localhealth.net, as she is starting a mailing list for this purpose.
*The PHDM Base Sataion has been experiencing problems since 4 June 2000. A date for fixing this is not yet known. You may use one of the CORS sites (http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/CORS/) in the interim, however, you should remember to sync your observation sampling rate to match that of the CORS base stations (1 observation every 30 seconds). (Now that SA has been turned off you may also get acceptable results without differential correction via point averaging: collect 30 or more points for a location at a 1-second interval. Average the observations into a single point. More on this technique later.)
*As of mid-july (1999) all is OK again
*6/30/99
Due to a computer glitch, the USFS base station didn't collect files for
the 29th. PHDM base files have been posted, which Trimble said should be good but may
have some gaps where no data was collected.
*06/24/1999
PHDM is experiencing some technical difficulties with their base station. The problem isn't diagnosed as yet, and started on June 14th. The
base station is seeing a lot of noise (so low SNRs), sometimes enough that
it's not doing any position fixes. Trimble said that the data collected will
probably be good but may have gaps. To ensure complete files, base data have been obtained from the Forest Service. We will
continue to post the USFS base files until the DMHD base station is running properly.
*08 June 1999
The PHDM base station did not collect files on 7 June 1999. Files from the USFS Base Station in Escanaba will be made available as a substititute. These files will have an "E" as a file prefix and will need to be downloaded manually!

4) click on the properties button
5) click on the Internet Server tab
6) ensure that the Address Format line reads http://emmap.mtu.edu/gps/base/%YYYY%%MM%/D%YMMDDHH%.EXE
7) click OK to apply changes and OK to continue
8) If you download a new list of sites from Trimble you will need to re-enable this change
***NOTE***
You need to have IE 4.0 or newer installed on your system for PFOffice to download files correctly. It updates the network setup that PFOffice depends on to function!
